These Terms govern your use of Spoolr — the mobile app and website operated by Spoolr ("we", "us"). By creating an account, joining an event, or using the Service, you agree to these Terms.
1. The Service
Spoolr is a disposable-camera app for events. Hosts create events and pay a per-event fee. Guests join via an invite code and take photos through the Spoolr app. Photos are private to the host until the host reveals the album.
2. Accounts
- Hosts sign in with an email address and a one-time code. You're responsible for keeping access to that email secure.
- Guests do not create accounts. They're identified by a device identifier stored on their phone.
- You must be at least 13 years old to use Spoolr.
- You can delete your account from inside the app at any time.
3. Acceptable use
You may not:
- Upload illegal, infringing, sexually explicit, or harassing content
- Upload photos of people without their consent in jurisdictions where consent is required
- Attempt to scan, exploit, or circumvent any security or rate limiting on the Service
- Use the Service to send spam, phishing, or malware
- Reverse-engineer, scrape, or build a competing service using Spoolr
We may remove content or suspend accounts that violate these terms, with or without notice.
4. Photos and content ownership
- You own your photos. Guests who take photos retain the rights to those photos. Hosts who reveal albums obtain a copy of the photos taken at their event.
- You grant Spoolr a limited license to store, display, and deliver photos solely to provide the Service (i.e., serve the album to the host).
- We will not use your photos for marketing, training AI models, or any purpose outside delivering the Service to you.
5. Payments
- Events are purchased on a per-event basis. Prices are shown in the app at the time of purchase.
- Payments are processed by Stripe. Spoolr never stores card details.
- Refunds: we offer a full refund within 24 hours of purchase, provided no guests have joined the event. After that, all sales are final.
- Custom-quoted (Large) events are non-refundable once the event has been activated by payment.
- Trial events are free and limited to one per account.
6. Photo retention
Event photos are automatically deleted from our servers 90 days after the event is created (180 days for custom-quoted events). It is your responsibility to download your album before that date. After deletion, photos are not recoverable.
7. Service availability
We do our best to keep the Service running but make no guarantees of uninterrupted availability. The Service may be unavailable due to maintenance, third-party outages (AWS, Stripe, etc.), or unforeseen issues.
8. Disclaimers
The Service is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. We do not warrant that the Service will be error-free, secure, or available at any specific time. You use the Service at your own risk.
9. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Spoolr's total liability to you for any claim arising from the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including lost photos.
10. Termination
- You may stop using the Service or delete your account at any time.
- We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms.
- Sections that by their nature should survive termination (ownership, payment, disclaimers, limitation of liability) survive.
11. Changes
We may update these Terms. The "Last updated" date at the top will change. Material changes will be communicated by email or in-app notice. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated Terms.
12. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any disputes shall be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Texas.
